Fascinating to hear discussion from 🇺🇸 on fellowship training. Double fellowship/board exams for neonatal and cardiology talked about as an ideal! (3+2yrs I believe) Not really possible in UK, some do post training fellowships. Should 🇬🇧 NICU/PICU do more cardiology training?

Watching the bats out back is always a highlight of this time of year. Especially after a long 3 days of induction. Hard to photograph on a phone tho! The blur in the middle...

1/4: UK #PedsICU admit the sickest children. Should we expect different admission rates for children from different ethnic backgrounds? Does deprivation influence the risk of admission? How about pollution? Find out from Hannah Mitchell's excellent research: sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

That Line About My Kids Powerful and brave personal essay about a faculty member who was advised, when applying for promotion, to remove a line from her narrative summary about CV about her 3 children. She was told it would not be looked upon favorably by the promotion committee.

I’m told that some veins are actually cannulatable with this one. Work only in the hands of paediatricians or paeds anaesthetists. Pre-flush yourself with saline, I’m getting the ultrasound. 9/10 for them, 1/10 for me.

Neonatal illness is the leading cause of life years burdened by disability 🌍 globally. Outranks 📈 ischaemic heart disease, stroke, diabetes, COPD, road injuries. Investment in high quality🫄maternity & 👶 neonatal care makes sense. The Lancet GBD study thelancet.com/journals/lance…

We are part of an amazing field. Much like the incredible growth we see in our patients it’s hard to believe what we’ve been able to accomplish and just 50 years! Next time you’re having a down day think about how far we’ve come! #neoTwitter
