Each of #NASARoman ’s mirrors had passed individual tests, but this was the first time they were assessed together. Engineers had to make sure light would move through all of the optics in a tightly controlled way, or else the telescope’s images would appear blurred.

One method for studying exoplanets relies on measuring the changes in brightness as planets pass in front of or behind their host stars. #NASAWebb ’s observation of TRAPPIST-1 b showed that it has no notable atmosphere.
