Amazing clouds over Coulsdon Manor today while enjoying a masterclass of grit, determination and gutsy parring from fellow Golf Monthly course enthusiast Jezz Ellwood !

After much travelling, delighted to be back home at Tandridge this brilliant summer morning - plenty of laughs with great friends, and even the odd good shot !

Early start this morning for a speedy 2-ball at Tandridge, a quick lime & soda (honest !!) and home by midday... all lovely !

Always very good to get back to Chart Hills, a first-class course in a truly beautiful location - this is Golf Monthly's Jezz Ellwood escaping from the jaws of the 200-plus-yard Anaconda bunker !

Greatly enjoyed playing a Mixed Team event at Crowborough Beacon this afternoon - a fine Golf Monthly Top 200 course full of variety, interest and challenge

A highlight of any visit to Tandridge Golf Club is sampling the food and drink on offer. Sadly no time for the famous club carvery, Tandridge pudding and a glass of vino but did get to sample this most elite club sandwich, some top tier onion rings and pint of Moretti. Lovely stuff 👌

Always a massive pleasure to return to the scenic and endlessly varied Knole Park - today in the fine company of Golf Monthly's Neil Tappin - played soon after some Discovery Channel rainfall and the course was in excellent shape, particularly the pacey greens - loved it !

Always a treat to get back to Hayling - moving forward very well under new stewardship - fine bunker changes by Graeme Roberts and excellent welcome from Steve Slinger - even treated to golfing wizardry by Jezz Ellwood, aka Mr Two Eagles !!

Just back from adding a little-known Harry Colt course to the CV - Belfairs in Southend - a muni with a sad but understandable lack of investment, but by no means a poor design

Just back from today's excellent Golf Monthly Help for Heroes event West Surrey Golf Club - thoroughly enjoyed it, but possibly never had so much rain in one round in 45 years of golf, course looking extremely good but the final two greens, like me, could take no more !!

Very enjoyable and hospitable time at today's Invitational at Effingham - escaped with just one proper shower, which can be considered a major result !

First game at Heythrop Park today, very enjoyable despite one or two marathonesque walks between holes and a bizarre and extreme deluge of hailstones on the 11th - lovely setting and plenty of fun !

Very much looking forward to visiting this week !!

Always good to get back home for a game at Tandridge - greens back to brilliant following maintenance a few weeks ago...

... and even some warmth in the air despite a tricky breeze... very lucky !!

Great to get back to The Addington today with Golf Monthly's Jezz Ellwood to see the enormity of its ongoing restoration - amazingly both instantly recognisable and yet completely different - hugely impressive !
