Today, The Observer published damning new figures showing that upfront charging for NHS care led to over 900 people being denied treatment. The NHS should be available to all based on need, not ability to pay. These figures reveal only part of the harm. theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/a…

Discrimination, ID checks and the threat of data sharing all act as a deterrent, preventing people accessing care. These fears are compounded by huge bills, life long debts, and hospitals employing debt collection agencies to chase those patients that do access treatment.
