in 1933, Nina Simone (1933-2003), 'the high priestess of soul,' was born! Born as Eunice Kathleen Waymon in Tryon, NC, she was the sixth of eight children. Both of her parents were musical, and by the young age of six, Waymon began taking classical piano lessons. (1/8)
