It’s finally out! The PhD work and first first author paper of Martino Ugolini: rdcu.be/dD5Vd. Congrats to all co-authors Maciej Kerlin, Ksenia Kuznetsova, Hiroshi Kimura, and Haruka Oda for the beautiful work! We also thank Sabrya Carim Nature Cell Biology for the pleasant review process.
Happy to share a new preprint, in which we describe the mechanism of human tRNA 3' processing. We show why the RNase Z ELAC2 acts as a monomer in the nucleus, but forms a multi-subunit complex in mitochondria. Plase see 🧵 by Arjun Bhatta for details!

Check out the latest pre-print from our lab. Amazing work from Jan Dreyer, Giulia Ricci and Jeroen van den Berg. True team work with many essential collaborators Alexander van Oudenaarden Anja Groth 🇺🇦, Sabrina Spencer, Vivek Bhardwaj and many more. Feedback welcome!
Very happy to see our review with Maxim Greenberg and Ana Monteagudo-Sánchez about DNA methylation and 3D genome organization out. Lots of questions still to explore. See Max’s thread below for key points
You may know ZNF143 as a looping factor. We show together with the ASHansen Lab that this is not the case! If you want to know why and what it does instead do read our thread below:

Our new paper is out today in Science Magazine showing that sister chromatid cohesion is mediated by individual cohesin complexes. Read about it here: science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… (1/4)
Happy to share our #BiochemSocTrans review: Elisa Oberbeckmann and I discuss how in vitro reconstitution studies have contributed to our understanding of genome organisation and reflect on possible future applications.

Latest work from our collaboration with the amazing Beckouet frederic ! congrats to Nathalie Bastié, Christophe Chapard , and Axel Cournac for analysis... a short paper showing that cohesins involved in SCC represent roadblocks to chromatin loops extrusion in yeast:

We are looking forward to hosting Marieke Oudelaar at BRIC next month. Please join for an exciting seminar on the role of 3D chromatin organisation in gene regulation. 4th of April, 12:00-13:00, 2nd floor seminar room Biotech Research & Innovation Centre (BRIC). All welcome.
Apply now for one of our Lise Meitner Research Groups 2024! Your applications for this #tenuretrack positions at #MaxPlanckInstitutes will be accepted until April 10th 2024. -> mpg.de/11946549/lise-… #LiseMeitnerGroups #CareerinScience #WomeninScience
(1/n) Excited to share our new review by Jin(Harvey) Yang Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology
We discuss:
1) spatiotemporal mechanisms of E-P interactions
2) mechanisms of enhancer selectivity
3) pros and cons of 3C and imaging based methods
Brief summary thread below:

Congratulations to *Dr.* Abrar Aljahani on her great PhD defense today — a very well-deserved summa cum laude! 🥳 IMPRS for Genome Science
Thank you so much for all you fantastic work and contributions to the lab Abrar Aljahani!
We have open European Research Council (ERC)-funded post-doc positions to study #3Dgenome organization and #generegulation . We are looking for talented and motivated candidates, but prior experience in the field is not required. Please RT!

Our study is online Molecular Cell! Compared to our preprint (see previous 🧵), we added additional evidence that transcription factor exchange is required to prolong transcriptional burst duration. Thanks reviewers for suggesting this experiment. 1/4 dlvr.it/T2yqrm
Next week Thursday at 11 AM sharp(-ish), I will be sharing unpublished data from the lab linking CTCF, splicing and chromatin organization with cellular ageing.
With thanks to Darío G. Lupiáñez and Nadine Vastenhouw for the invitation!
