A Red-tailed Hawk on the hunt. This is the female of the nesting pair; she was taking a break from being on the nest to rustle up some food.

I did it! Today I broke one million photos taken with my Nikon Z9! This Website says 'shutter count' but the site also works as an actuation counter, which is the number of photos taken. NikonUSA 🥳

The Queen of the boardwalk, a Northern Cardinal, stops by for snacks and takes a couple of suet nuggets to go. She is followed by a female Downy Woodpecker who also decides on a suet nugget. Full video on YT: youtu.be/fJvzF5wsdAI

With one egg in the nest, Sandhill Cranes swap nest sitting duties with one parent about to leave and another about to egg sit. Once the Dad gets situated, the day-old colt snuggles in and gets nice and cozy.

A Sandhill Crane parent with a colt (a young Sandhill Crane) that is a day old. Next to the colt is an egg that hatched overnight, bringing the family to four. It's amazing how small the cranes start out and how fast they grow!

A female Northern Cardinal gets startled a couple of times from Red-winged Blackbirds (one male and one female), but she returns until she is done dining. Video switches to real time ~30 seconds.

There was quite the scrum between two Tufted Titmice, which looked to be caused by a peanut! They were fighting each other in the air Dragonball Z style, battled on the ground for a bit, and then went back to the air. The one Tuftie never gave up the peanut.

Some of the male Red-winged Blackbirds will fly up to the boardwalk railing and do a running hop over to me, which always makes me happy.

The first of the colts (a 'colt' is a young Sandhill Crane, so called because of their long legs) has arrived at the park! The parents took the colt for a short swim from the island to the cattails.

There was a branch just above my hand, which made flying in for this male Red-bellied Woodpecker a bit challenging. His second angle of approach made for a much easier landing.

A two pairs of Canada Geese were honking at each other and causing a ruckus around a Sandhill Crane nest. This Sandhill Crane watched them for a bit and then gave a loud, trumpeting call as if to tell everyone to chill. The Geese went their own ways after that.
