#WayBackWednesday to the early 1900s and the Seaboard Train Station! Built in 1891 by the Georgia, Carolina, & Northern Railroad, it connected Athens to Atlanta and the Northeast. You can find it still standing at College Ave and Ware St, just north of downtown! 🚆

EHP Progress Update! Our 4th project has broken ground and will tackle foundational repairs, new flooring, and kitchen cabinetry. With $25K invested, this effort reflects our mission to preserve affordable housing, prevent displacement, and maintain neighborhood spirit.

Belmont School, originally Big Creek Academy, has been moved 700 feet to a new location, saving it from condemnation! Now set to be restored and adapted as a home for preservationist Stephanie Cowan, this 1893 schoolhouse is getting a second lease on life.

#DetailDiscovery at Historic Athens HQ! Old Firehall No. 2, a fire station from '01-'79, still features the original brass fire pole, lockers, tile, and fireplace. Most special are the firefighters' carved initials on the bricks, a hidden diary in stone connecting us to the past.
