In addition to the GHCNh release today, one of our regional climate centers (@northeastrcc) worked really hard to put the data into the ACIS API. You can test out your queries here: builder.rcc-acis.org

This should solve some of the access issues people are already facing.

Over and over, in the real world of proper government disclosure and accountability, government officials are prosecuted for failing to disclose gifts far lower in value than what Supreme Court justices received.  twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…

This is Borgund Church in Norway, made entirely out of wood and built over 800 years ago.

It is a 'stave church', an incredibly unusual type of Medieval building.

What makes them so special? Well, there are only 30 original stave churches in the world...

Whenever people frame climate science as a debate between mainstream science (who agree on everything) and 'skeptics' (who are challenging things), a gentle reminder that it is mainstream science that is skeptical in a way that iterates on understanding and advances knowledge…

I too can throw together nonsensical words (unnecessarily capitalized) and make them sound science-y to perpetuate bogus conspiracies.

'Isosceles Asparagus! Distributive Zephyrs! Monochromatic Lemniscates! The government! Weather modification!'

See how silly it sounds?

15/ A person who has done hard work preserving old space data is Dennis Wingo. He has copied and preserved many data tapes from the older robotic missions. Congress should set some money aside to preserve all the Apollo telemetry, too. /end 🧵

Among other things climate change is a time tax, I mutter, as I scan the dog and myself for ticks after a simple walk in the spring woods. 😠

It's mid-April. Time for some seasonal cooling.

El Niño is ending. Time for some interannual cooling.

Nope. Let's set a new record high for daily ocean-average surface temperature. 😬

Chris Martz Christy's view that Christy's own UAH data set agrees better with radiosondes than RSS isn't necessarily determinative.

For example, the 2022 State of the Climate Report (ametsoc.net/sotc2022/SOTC2…) showed better general trend agreement between RSS and radiosondes.

Part of the insensitivity to adding additional stations and choices for dealing with non-climatic signals is because the temperature anomaly field is quite smooth… uniform with just a factor of a few change from e.g. pole to equator or land to ocean and a large correlation…
