It’s awesome to wake up and see your resident being highlighted by the The Society of Thoracic Surgeons newsletter. I am so impressed by our trainees, congratulations to the whole Cedars-Sinai Academic Medicine team and Kevin (Qiudong) Chen. #MedEd #cardiac #research
Heart transplantation 🫀 is rarely performed on patients with COVID-19 cardiomyopathy, accounting for 0.2% of transplant practice in the USA based on UNOS data, yet early outcomes appear favorable in select patients. Dominic Emerson, MD 🔗: jhltonline.org/article/S1053-…

Do you ever consider donor hyperoxia as a PGD HTX risk factor? #EvanKransdorf et al. found that donor hyperoxia at time of donor heart recovery is a novel risk factor for severe PGD. Cedars-Sinai Michelle Kittleson MD PhD 🔗jhltonline.org/article/S1053-…
An amazing accomplishment by Cedars-Sinai Comprehensive Transplant Center and Smidt Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai teams completed 616 transplants. These organ transplants would not be possible without the lifesaving gifts of organ donors. cedars-sinai.org/newsroom/cedar…

I’m so proud to be part of this program. Only one place in the United States currently doing this! Cedars-Sinai was also the first to ever do it! The ISHLT #surgery #innovation United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS)
It’s been a great journey to get to this point. We couldn’t have done it without the support from Jo Chikwe and Cedars-Sinai. Being able to offer this to #lung #transplant patients is awesome! More to come! JHLT ISMICS American Society of Transplantation (AST)
Awesome to see this in print! Also really exciting to see other centers now showing interest in doing it— this could be a major improvement for our patients. The Society of Thoracic Surgeons Cedars-Sinai United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) #transplant #robotic
Great lecture from Jo Chikwe at the The Society of Thoracic Surgeons Robotic workshop. Excellent turnout and discussion about starting robotic programs for cardiac surgery. Thanks to the STS for hosting such a valuable workshop and for inviting us to share the Cedars-Sinai experience. #mitral
