I coded the basics of #DTFX and tested it on Meta Trader 5. The results are promising despite not having tuned the coefficient yet. Gonna refine this and turn it into a serious expert advisor pretty soon. 👊

I refined my #DTFX expert advisor by tuning the TP points, adding a MA to confirm trend, and restricting the trading time interval. I find that using this as a intraday strategy instead of scalping is best for EURUSD. And the Sharpe Ratio makes me think that it’s overfitted. 😂

Currently 10 Expert Advisors up and running. As I get more experienced, the criteria for a qualified trading bot increases. Rn I only approve bots that has 1.3+ Profit Factor, 3+ Sharpe Ratio, 0.9+ LR correlation. Thus it’s not easy now. Every 3 bots built only 1 satisfied. #mql5

In machine learning there’s a method of dividing a data set into different subsets and using some as training sets and others testing sets. If your EA has a LRC of more than 0.9 you almost don’t have to use this method in optimization. Cuz a high LR means consistently low error.

Forex markets are more often ranges. I tried 3 breakout methods with many pairs but none have great results while almost all my range bounce expert advisors dominated. Forex breakout strategies are just not it. #mql5 #expertadvisor #trading #metatrader #mt5 #algotrading

One month from now this portfolio started running 12 of my Expert Advisors. Rn it has returned 17% after 30+ trades. Diversifying different strategies and pairs tends to yield stable return, as it allows for temporary errors for observation. #TradingBot #algotrading #mql5 #mt5

I’ve been re-optimizing my strategies using walk forward analysis these days and found that most optimized by 5 years in-sample data fails miserably for out-sample tests. Real day trading alphas require thousands of trades and 10+ years to prove its stability. Learnt my mistakes.
