We're excited to share Dr. Jennifer Chan will co-lead a study on diffuse gliomas, the most common brain tumours. The Pan-Canadian Lower-grade Glioma project, funded by Marathon of Hope Cancer Centres Network , Dr. Chan and team aim to understand tumour evolution and its impact on relapse.

To turn the tide on this deadly disease, a new team of experts from #AB , #MB , #BC . #NS and #NB will come thanks to new funding from our Network.

The team is led by Drs. Jennifer Chan (UCalgaryMedicine and Charbonneau Cancer Institute) and Marshall Pitz (@CancerCareMB).

Lower-grade gliomas (also known asas IDH-mutant gliomas) are an aggressive type of #braincancer .

While significant strides have been made in the upfront treatment of primary tumours, when these tumours relapse (and they always do), treatment options are extremely limited.

To improve survival and quality of life for patients diagnosed with these cancers, a multi-disciplinary group of head and neck cancer experts from across the country are uniting under a newly formed team—the Canadian Head And Neck cancer GEnomic (CHANGE) Collaborative.

2️⃣ A second project, led by Drs. Jennifer Chan (U Calgary) and Marshall Pitz (@CancerCareMB), will seek to find better ways to treat patients with low grade gliomas, a deadly form of #braincancer . The group includes experts from #AB , #MB , #BC , #NS and #NB .

1⃣ The first project unites experts from five institutions in #Alberta , #Quebec and #Ontario to understand high recurrence rates in #OralSmallCellCarcinoma to improve survival and quality of life for patients. The team will be led by Dr. Pinaki Bose (U Calgary).
