There has been a significant decrease in lung cancer rates due to reductions in smoking but there remains a fraction of lung cancers that have nothing to do with smoking. Molecular analysis is revealing targetable mechanisms.

In 2022, Yuan Lew was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer.

As a never-smoker, Asian female, under 50, her physicians suspected she had mutations in the EGFR gene.

Confirmation altered her treatment plan, and her prognosis.
