Ed Miliband told his Labour colleagues to say that he would save families £300 off their bills with GB Energy. Instead he is taking £300 away from 10 million pensioners this winter and businesses, experts, and the unions say his plans will make energy more expensive.

Today, I’ll be voting AGAINST Labour’s cruel plans to cut winter fuel allowance. It directly impacts approx 64,000 pensioners across Bradford District - many of whom rely on this allowance. I urge all Bradford District MPs to oppose these plans. Abstaining is not good enough.

Cutting the 25% discount would be yet another cruel tax on the many pensioners who live alone. Coupled with the cut to winter fuel payments, it could see pensioners £700 worse off than they were last year. This isn’t what was anyone in Derbyshire voted for.

Ed Miliband is pursuing a 2030 decarbonisation target that no other major economy is aiming for — with no analysis of what it will do to the cost of our energy or our reliance on Chinese imports. Everyone who cares about energy bills should be asking him these questions.
