A lawsuit filed by multiple plaintiffs responds to Proposition KK, which imposes an excise tax on the retail sale of ‘any firearm, firearm precursor part, or ammunition.’ DAO is included as a Def due to potential enforcement of failure to collect this excise tax. Full statement:

On June 27, 2025, the case against Joel Lang was dismissed after the court previously found him incompetent to proceed and that his competency could not be restored.

4th Judicial District Court Judge Eric Bentley rejects terms of plea agreement entered by Jon Hallford in November 2024. The charges in this case stem from an October 2023 investigation into the conditions at the Return to Nature Funeral Home in Penrose, Colorado.

A lawsuit was filed this week in response to Colorado Senate Bill 25-003 which is set to go into full effect on 8/1/26. The plaintiffs filed their lawsuit against several entities, including myself, in my role as DA of the 4th Judicial District. My full response is attached.

An Ohio man, arrested on suspicion of hundreds of counts of Elections Forgery and Perjury-Election Offenses, has been convicted and sentenced in the Fourth Judicial District for crimes he committed during a local election.

The man charged in the deadly shooting at a Planned Parenthood center in Colorado Springs in 2015, has died. The defendant, Robert Dear, was being prosecuted jointly by the U.S. Department of Justice and the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
