Her INR was 4 and I was the intern tasked to place a femoral central line for pressers and antibiotics in this septic patient in the emergency department. A mistake I made during this one procedure would become a pivotal life learning moment for me. The procedure started out

“The word priority came into the English language in the 1400s. It was singular. It meant the very first or prior thing. It stayed singular for the next five hundred years. Only in the 1900s did we pluralize the term and start talking about ‘priorities.’ Illogically, we reasoned

“Daddy, why are you always looking at your phone when I am trying to talk to you?” Most parents have heard this. Almost every doctor I know who is a parent has. And it hits hard. So I recently did something crazy. I downloaded an app that turns off my email and social media

Definitely a bad take in my world Trust me when I say that income does not solve the problem Financial literacy is paramount to finding success and just as important to help avoid getting swindled by the financial industry that paints a giant target on doctors’ backs

Why in the world would a bill cap federal student loans for grad school at $150,000 instead of capping the annual amount tuition can rise? Attacking the wrong problem. The average medical student comes out with $200,000. That’s the AVERAGE. Idiotic. #medtwitter #Medx

Or we could pass a bill that limits medical school federal student loan borrowing to $150,000 and get rid of public service loan forgiveness We are potentially about to have a generation of doctors who avoid primary care like the plague because of salaries AND debt 🤦‍♂️

Had a resident reach out this week looking for disability insurance. They met with an Ameritas agent who failed to mention the Guardian GSI that resident also had access to, and guess what? They got denied due to some joint pain that was investigated by their PCP Since they

It is that time of the year where I scream from the mountain tops… PLEASE get disability insurance before you finish training! This (1) locks in residency discounts, and MORE IMPORTANTLY (2) makes the Guaranteed Standard Issue policy available The GSI goes away shortly after
