This applies to me too in #ldnont. I can bike most places as quickly as driving. When I lived in #Halifax in the mid-2000s, I could ride from the HFX shopping centre to SMU History Department just as quickly as driving. The main impediment to biking for rational actors is safety.

So far my City of London council has banned encampments from residential neighbourhoods, & now they have banned shelters from business improvement districts. It is hard to understand how this doesn’t lead to ghettoization of poverty in #ldnont lfpress.com/news/local-new…

We have a new episode today over ActiveHistory.ca as Sean Graham talks with Molly Miowak Guise, author of Alaska Native Resilience, about the book and local communities' response to the Aleutian campaigns during the Second World War #podcast activehistory.ca/blog/2024/11/0…

"Since the release of the TRC’s Final Report, denialists feel that they have lost control of the narrative and [...] seek to distort, downplay, and discredit established historical truths to try and regain control." Sean Carleton's post is live today. activehistory.ca/blog/2024/11/1…

This is a critical campaign in #ldnont pushing back on significant cutbacks to @cityofldnont support for our non-profit sector. The organization that I am most familiar with operates with 35% of the city funding they had a decade ago. Pillar Nonprofit Network nwmd.social/s/twitter/5QuP…

This shameful op-ed should never have been published National Post. Not only is it misleading (public perception towards these issues was shifting well before 2015) but it ignores #MurraySinclair’s important work before the TRC. nationalpost.com/opinion/the-mi… #cdnpoli #racism #cdnmedia
