The Taxing Wealth Report 2024 shows that austerity is not needed in the UK. Instead, we can have decent public services employing appropriately paid people, and we can invest in our future. Download it here taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2024/04/0โ€ฆ

The FT has published an editorial attacking taxes on the wealthy, and saying we must keep those threatening to leave, come what may. They're horribly wrong. If pandering to tax abuse is the price of keeping the wealthy, we should show them the door. taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/07/1โ€ฆ

BP Pulse charges between 44p and 89p (inc 20% VAT) per kWh to charge your car. Domestic electricity - which includes cost of environmental subsidies and 5% VAT - costs 25.73p. Wholesale price currently 7.9p before VAT. Someone is being ripped off.

I am loath to criticise my former BBC colleagues and Iโ€™m aware they werenโ€™t in on the story. But the idea of a TV presenter losing his job being the top story on the website as opposed to Parliament being kept in the dark for two years about the Afghan data leak is risible.

This one is worth listening to - not least because the BBC in Scotland were trying to prove they weren't biased - and did exactly that.

The true cost of nationalising water is close to nothing. No one pays full price for bust companies. Very often, they go for ยฃ1. Why do ministers keep lying, or are they really stupid enough not to know?

Is Labour threatening your retirement plans? youtu.be/JRbq-7xpUNA?siโ€ฆ Labour says itโ€™s launching a pensions review to make retirement more secure. But dig into the details, and itโ€™s clear: this is about cutting costs, not helping pensioners. We need a fair, state-backed pension

I am staggered tonight that there are so many conditions that Starmer has put on recognising Palestine, even giving Israel the right to prevent it happening. I loathed Thatcher. I might well loathe him even more. His actions justify that.

There isn't a humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The only thing happening there is genocide. They're nothing like the same thing. Starmer is either ignorant and so is unfit for office, or is deliberately denying that genocide by conflating the two.

BREAKING: Heroic police officers have saved the public from a terrifying terrorist who is blind and disabled but has opinions the government dislikes. I can only assume these officers will be given medals for their bravery x

The biggest divide is not between โ€œrightโ€ and โ€œleft." Itโ€™s between democracy and oligarchy. The billionaires who control our economy and democracy seek to divide us. They want us to turn on each other so we don't look up and see that they have all the wealth and power.

For over 45 years, neoliberal and neoclassical economics have dominated UK policy โ€” and failed us. In a new series, I will dismantle their false logic, explain why they fail, and show how you can argue back with reason and evidence. Economics should serve people, not markets.
