#Typhoon DANAS made an unexpected landfall on W coast of #Taiwan. It's a surprise—both in terms of track & intensity. Surface obs suggest it came in hot. Looked great on radar. This is 2nd typhoon landfall on W coast of Taiwan (side that usually gets less action) in last year.

Wildfire smoke from Canada will surge into the Midwest and Great Lakes on Sunday and Monday, leading to unhealthy air quality. Southerly winds should generally keep it away from the Eastern Seaboard. With several big fires, smoke is also blowing around the West.
