As far as the Bible is concerned, here’s how you discern God’s will. You become a wise person through years of training, through learning, through getting to know God, getting to know the Word, getting to know your own heart, going through suffering, being corrected by people.

The obsession with times, time rankings, and fast courses is ruining our sport of cross country. True XC is about the challenge of the course and the other competitors. Bring on the hills, mud and creeks! Call me cantankerous!

To quote one of my former assistant coaches: “It’s the cross country version of the soccer “showcases”, come to our super fast course to run a time that in reality college coaches don’t care about.”
