New paper: Since the rise of large language models, there's been a huge shift in academic writing. In 2024, the word "delves" appeared 2,700% more than its historical average, by one account. The analysis suggests that 13.5% of 2024 abstracts were processed with LLMs.

I think a fundamental problem for algorithmic content generation is that viewing content yields two distinct kinds of utility: 1. How happy it makes the viewer during viewing 2. How happy the viewer will be to have watched it a week later & only the former is easily measurable
