Another significant milestone in the vaccine rollout reached today: GPs & their practice teams have now administered 2m doses! All of this was achieved on top of all of their other commitments. Wow! Hits the nail on the head. This editorial traces the deprofessionalisation of NHS general practice. The legacy of austerity, bad politics and a proud profession caving in to box ticking. The British Journal of General Practice Irish College of GPs HSE Ireland DOI: doi.org/10.3399/bjgp25…

A prediction : in 5 years the health scandal of the year will be the way we currently trifle with the mental health of children and adolescents. CAHMS is a disgrace. I dread parents coming in asking for mental health help for their child. Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD

Antibiotic resistance is a dangerous issue. Saw a patient with recurrent & persistent urinary symptoms. Lab shows her urine resistant to 10 out of 11 antibiotics. Only sensitive to an intravenous antibiotic. In a lot of trouble with a common complaint. Irish College of GPs HSE Ireland

This is an obituary in our community newspaper Tallaght Echo about a much loved GP Dr Des Coady. He was funny, kind, modest and utterly committed to his patients. He made the vulnerable feel safe. Makes the rest of us proud - and feel very inadequate. A hero.

NHS junior doctors are now called residents. We use ‘non-consultant hospital doctor’. Defining yourself with a negative is not good and ‘junior’ is worse. Plus 6-700 are in GP training posts with no aspiration to a consultant career. Irish Medical Organisation Irish College of GPs
