It’s one thing to ask if AI can write. It’s quite a different thing to ask if AI can read? Sit alone in a quiet corner, get absorbed by a book, enter the minds or other people, get carried away, disappear in the pages fully absorbed and yet awake, wondering g how to live.

there is a difference between doing philosophy in terms of AI — and doing AI in terms of philosophy as an autonomous field of inquiry, with its own questions and truth. the former is interesting as far as it goes — but in the end its just more engineering. it’s not philosophy.
