I’m grateful the Supreme Court affirmed the law I passed to protect children from irreversible body mutilation. Our law was the test case for the nation, and now, children across the nation can be protected from these barbaric practices.

The unofficial historian of the Senate, Sen. Frank Niceley was a Tennessee original in every possible sense. Fiercely independent, deeply rooted in his community, and unwavering in his convictions, he brought a farmer’s wisdom and a statesman’s heart to public service.

A passionate fighter for rural Tennessee and the values he held dear, his passing is a loss to our state and to all who knew and served with him. My prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

Frank Niceley was a farmer, legislator in both the Tennessee House and Senate, and most of all, a great friend. Frank served the people of East Tennessee with passion and conviction, always fighting for rural values and conservative principles.

We are deeply saddened by the unexpected loss of Frank Niceley. He was a strong conservative, a friend to all and a great Tennessean. He served our state well for many years in the Senate and House of Representatives. He will be missed. Our prayers are with his family.
