Last day of Balticon , and I'm off to Oz--or at least a panel at 10am about Oz through the years. It's been a good convention--nice energy level and lots of people.

Sharing this again 10 years later--BBC's orchestral treatment of this song only highlights the sonic complexity of the original, and the video includes at least one of the composer's outspoken admirers. And the visuals are lovely. RIP #BrianWilson. youtube.com/watch?v=XqLTe8…

Welcome to #Bloomsday! I think some of Bloom's adventures of day work well with the song "Under Pressure." "That’s not life for men and women, insult and hatred. And everybody knows that it’s the very opposite of that that is really life. —What? says Alf. —Love, says Bloom."

OK, this may be too deep a reading, but in #Sinners, the Choctaws chasing the Irish Remmick is a historic deep cut. The Choctaws famously sent a donation to Ireland during the Famine, and this implies that some sort of spiritual connection continued.

rain slicked streets; too much booze, drugs, ciggies; a depressing low level civil war; bombs under cars; music out of step w the times; lots of driving; existential angst; bad jokes; little hope of resolution to any of the cases... if that's your thing: adrianmckinty.substack.com

Folks, Adrian McKinty is posting Sean Duffy stories on his substack! Besides the 2 below (one of which is also on Audible), he posted a work in progress today. adrianmckinty.substack.com

I recommend #TheLifeOfChuck, but won't say that much about it, not because of spoilers/twists, but because much of the pleasure is in the series of small discoveries, so going in cold is best. Also, the film gives a lot to talk about afterwards, so best enjoyed with others.

Nice touch in season 1 #Pachinko captioning--translated Japanese uses a light blue font, but the Korean words in an otherwise Japanese sentence show up as bright orange--and those words are so core (mother, father, my country).
