GET THE RIGHT GUYS ON THE BUS! "Mediocre people don’t like high achievers and high achievers don’t like mediocre people ... Get the right guys on the bus, get them in the right seats, and get the wrong guys off the bus." ~ Nick Saban video from The Crimson White

KELVIN SAMPSON ON BAD SHOOTERS “A lot of times people lie to a kid: 'You're a good shooter. Keep shooting.' 'No, you're not. Don't.' 'Well, you're hurting his confidence.' "I don't want to build a bad shooter's confidence up." ~ from Kris M Gardner

During your season be sure to stay in the weight room. Less than 10% of HS teams continue to strength train during their season. It’s such an important aspect, but overlooked by most. It helps to limit injuries, increases strength & builds confidence! Get in, get better, get out!

OLD SCHOOL OFFENSE! Neal Cobleigh knows this one well. The Reverse Action was invented by the legend Pete Newell and ran by Bobby Knight as a predecessor to his famed motion offense. Check it out!

Your coaches will watch you this off season. It tells them a lot about who’s committed to improving & who’s only interested when it’s convenient. No secrets & no shortcuts. You can only improve when you understand that every practice, exercise, drill, workout, day, etc, matters!

If you only get in the gym this off season during your required high school or AAU team practice you have very little chance to have a future in basketball. It takes what it takes... improvement in skill development, decision making, fitness level & expanding your basketball IQ!

In 2023, 11 coaches won #OKPreps State Championships in multiple sports, boys and girls same sport counts as multiple. One coach won three! Can you name the coaches, sports and school?

Coaching is more enjoyable when you get along with the other sport coaches at your school. Support them, share facilities cordially, be friendly, go to their games, and help them any way you can. Share athletes and encourage multi-sport participation in high school. Ultimately,
