Confused about how to select control variables in regression analysis? Read "Statistical Control Requires Causal Justification" by Anna Wysocki, Katherine M. Lawson and Mijke Rhemtulla journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/25…. Solid introduction!

Tonight is day 1 of a 3-day workshop that Peter Hull is doing on causal inference. You might call this "Peter's worldview on causal inference".

Data science "educators" are like "Here is how to evaluate the normality of your data, assumptions are SO important" and in the next course "Today I will show you how to use deep Q networks with experience relay to estimate the hierarchical Dirichlet process hidden Markov model"

What am I learning? Process evaluation = key at every stage of intervention development/adaptation —->implementation. So start with a logic model - what is the problem? what is causing this? how can we solve this? Then iterate & evaluate. Consider unintended consequences/harms.

New meta-analysis finds small effects for systemic therapy on a number of different outcomes. Couple therapy most effective for family system functioning, individual therapy for symptoms. tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.108…

Delighted to share our latest: the effects of an *open-label* placebo injection on clinical outcomes & brain function in chronic back pain we gave participants a placebo (saline) subcutaneous injection -- and we told them it was a placebo jamanetwork.com/journals/jaman… 1/n

Every time there is a new GPT model, people get all hyped about it only to find out three months later that it doesn't know how many Rs are in "strawberry" or something

Current meta-analysis shows large effects of CBT and exposure therapy for OCD. No evidence for significant effects of cognitive therapy and third-wave approaches, close to no research on other approaches. Intensive, short treatment seems more effective. cambridge.org/core/journals/…
