We learnt our first cheer today at cheerleading! Townville Academy

Today we started our new art project called Save Our Ocean. Year 2 thought very carefully about the colour, form and subject of environmental art. We looked at sculptures by Judith and Richard Lang and discussed what message they portrayed. 🐳 Townville Academy

This term, we are using our prior knowledge and skills from gymnastics in the Autumn term to make sequences using the apparatus. Year 2 made some great star, pike, tuck and straddle shapes last week. 🤩 Townville Academy

Last week, Year 2 used different media in their retrieval starter to draw and paint the ocean. Children also retrieved their knowledge of cold colours from their work on Kandinsky last year. 🌊 Townville Academy

Today, Year 2 have made rhythms with different musical instruments and developed this online using the chrome music app. Great collaboration and exploration! Townville Academy

It was great to share our DEAR session today in our Love and Learn. We love reading for pleasure in the library and book nooks around school. Townville Academy

In our science lesson, we looked for evergreen and deciduous trees in our forest school area and quad. We even did some observational drawings of our findings. Townville Academy 🍃

We loved learning about the story of Grace Darling in our history lesson. We used freeze frames to retell the rescue before using secondary sources to understand why it was so significant in the Victorian Era. Townville Academy

Year 2 enjoyed making these collages as part of our ‘Save the Oceans‘ project. They were inspired by the Work of Judith and Richard Lang, who collect litter from beaches and turn them into sculptures. We used recycled materials to create a sea animal. 🐠 Townville Academy

Art week is finally here! Year 2 are exploring ‘TheWorld Through Our Eyes’. We explored our forest school and use leaves to make rubbings and observational drawings. Year 2 really impressed me with their concentration during their continuous line drawing. Wow! Townville Academy 🤩🎨🍃

Today, Year 2 explored colour using oil pastels and a water colour wash. They thought carefully about ‘The World Through Our Eyes’ captured in their view finders to create a collaborative piece using new creative techniques. Townville Academy 📸🌿🖌
