Local employers don't want young people with a huge raft of GCSEs. They want effective communicators & collaborators who can take feedback with grace and act upon it.
Universities don't ask for huge numbers of GCSEs either.
Progress 8 scores are a terrible measure for education.

Any graduates thinking of teaching don’t. This is what you will face every day - you’ll give it your all on a shoe string budget. Then you’ll be abused by email, phone calls and social media. Nothing will ever be good enough for these people. A thankless job.

Here we have someone in a fee paying school in the Cayman Islands criticising others in state schools in the UK who struggle with behaviour when a day becomes unstructured. Perhaps he can come and show us all how it’s done! 👍

So now asking 1000+ students to walk on the left with a guidance line is unethical. I mean lists just have them all bash each other. Honestly, the world has gone bloody bonkers.

Schools with excellent P8 have the following in common:
-Disruption free classrooms and school
-Explicit teaching
-Students that work hard
-Excellent subject leaders
-Leaders that know how to improve the school
-No trauma, ACES and RJ distractions

Not rocket science.

This is the top of the table for disadvantaged students - the most disadvantaged students seem to benefit from a similar formula; didactic teaching, high expectations, great relationships.

Does that include the victims of poor behaviour who ruin lessons at best or cause harm physical / mental at worse? Do they not matter. You cannot do away with accountability
