We need to upgrade our grid and increase electric capacity by 2-4X over the next few decades in 🇺🇸 A lot of people want to do that to address climate. A lot of people want to do that to beat China at AI and advanced manufacturing. But we basically all want to do the same

Just reminded of advice I got years ago that has aged well: “If you want to know what it’s like to work with a Public Utility Commission but don’t have expertise in electricity regulation, become a New York Jets fan. It’s the same experience.” 😂

Proud of the progress in Year 6. Year 7 is off to the worst start imaginable. My great hope is that coming out of this tragedy, we will start acting with the sense of urgency required.

There is no safe way to operate California’s electric grid during high winds/red flag conditions. The only near term solution is much more aggressive use of Public Safety Power Shutoffs. I don’t know how many more people need to die before we accept this, but Californians need

Clean energy isn't just about replacing dirty electrons with clean ones. It's about replacing a system built on scarcity with one built on abundance. The sun doesn't send us a bill. -Jigar Shah

@jason Chamath Palihapitiya David Sacks can y’all do an episode on the California grid post LA wildfires? I’m pretty confident that the outcome of this is going to be a huge ramp up in PSPS (turning the grid off) throughout the state. If so, a lot of huge implications.

The electric grid probably caused the Eaton fire. Either way, the fact that these lines were energized post Palisades ignition is concrete proof of a broken system. CA’s electric grid is broken. Massive implications, we need to rethink everything. nytimes.com/2025/01/26/us/…

Massachusetts just introduced a bill to make DERs 20% of the electricity mix by 2035. I’ll take the over. trackbill.com/bill/massachus…

One of the biggest problems in the energy industry is that way too many folks believe that a bad product can be financially engineered into a good business.
