The Afghan data breach appears to be missing vital information. The BBC say it was a leak to a single person, so why could it not be fully traced or contained? Who was it sent on to if anybody? What was their motivation? Sky has a good timeline: news.sky.com/story/guide-to…

Great to see TRSE being highlighted here. 61% of train journeys are for leisure vs 22% for bus travel. Bus wins every time for getting britain moving. In a hierachy of investment, Buses should always take the strain!

A warning to anyone using Topps Tiles #ToppsTiles - they offer sub standard returns policy of only 7 days on most of their products - eg adhesive. go to Screwfix and get 30 days or B&Q between 30 and 90 days to return goods. As if a tiling project only takes 7 days!

Water commission - welcome that they understand that water is low risk and returns should therefore be low. It’s nuts that water companies have turned themselves into complex financial mechanisms. Wait till you find out how much electricity distribution companies make!

Lord Sikka indicates in this that Prax not in as bad a state as govt makes out. No buyers because of no govt backing? We lose basic infrastructure like this and we will all get poorer. The nation gets poorer. It’s basic economics.

Party conferences are key to the health of our politics. The BBC really must engage properly > Great quote from Committee chair Caroline Dinenage MP “It’s a surprising move by the BBC, who took over 500 of their staff to Glastonbury!" politicshome.com/news/article/b…

Britain certainly needs a pay rise, after a lost decade of wealth leaving these shores. But the average salary is £37,000 and the median salary is £31,602. Minimum Wage £25,397. However, one option could be to switch pension payments into take home pay in those early years.

Important thread. This is impacting our national finances. It represents unfair competition to our High Streets. Next time you see a politician claiming they support small businesses, ask them why they allow this...

This thread v good. But it is also an indicator how tribal debate is, it try’s to shut down debate by pretending one side doesn’t know what the other is talking about. Intelligent debate and politicians shd acknowledge and deal with the real world, from crime to Hamas.

Empty homes are an Incredible opportunity - but working to bring them back into use is difficult and time consuming for local councils. These small steps help, but will they be enough to provide a steady stream of supportive intervention? bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

With car production shifting to electric / hybrid and 'green hydrogen' we need to switch fuel duty to pence per mile - apparently 7p a mile would do it. Much fairer than continuing to subsidise the most well off who drive electric. theguardian.com/politics/artic…

ludicrous statements in here that simply building more renewables will bring bills down! the only way bills can come down is if much more capacity is built alongside mechanical batteries to remove the huge cost of windless OR very windy days. Until then, renewables add £££££

Or another way to look at it is: delivery: Economy. Jobs. Housing. NHS. Why is that message not getting through to our Parliament and Government??

Blame game: 1) Brexit 2) subsidies for imported cars (mainly Chinese, which now get Chinese State subsidies + uk govt subsidies of £3,750 per car). UK / European / Japanese manufactures dont stand a chance! bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
