Blood tests offer a convenient way to screen for colorectal cancer, but a new UCLA study in Gastroenterology led by Fola May, MD PhD & Timothy Zaki, MD found only 49% of patients got the critical follow-up colonoscopy within 6 months after an abnormal result. bit.ly/45qyJi7

A new WSJ article features research led by UCLA's Fola May, MD PhD on increasing colorectal cancer screening in adults ages 45-50. In a trial of 20,000+ people, they found screening rates rose when stool tests were mailed by default, rather than offered by request.

UCLA’s Fola May, MD PhD talked to STAT News about her research tackling a major challenge: how to get millions of newly eligible adults screened after colorectal cancer guidelines lowered the starting age to 45.

New research led by Fola May, MD PhD & published in @JAMA shows that automatically sending at-home colorectal screening tests may be the key to encouraging timely screening in adults ages 45 to 49. Read more about the findings: bit.ly/3UdlATi

📢 “We probably shouldn’t be wasting time asking patients first; we should send them what they need.” — Fola May, MD PhD (UCLA Health), #FightCRC Board Member, in the The Wall Street Journal, on how to actually boost #ColorectalCancer screening among adults under 50.

Excellent study highlighting the most effective CRC screening strategy in adults age 45-49 ✨the power of the FIT✨ Fola May, MD PhD
