On the radio show today: we've done the merits of windfarms. We're about to discuss smartphone thefts. But currently Homes Under the Hammer's Martin Roberts is telling us that he was denied a mortgage because his house is haunted by a ghost. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

I love that my five-year-old picked up on my favourite quote of Wallace and Gromit and is now, despite not really knowing it means, going around shouting ā€œonly two hours to go and they haven’t even started laying the patio!ā€ and then laughing to himself

Awful isn’t it. And not just the NHS. Happens in lots of industries (including media). Inflexible rotas managed by people who prioritise default shift patterns over common sense exceptions which benefit staff. Pointless, petty. I’m lucky to have a great boss but have seen it.

If you want to recreate the feeling contestants get on the Traitors when they spot a ā€˜murder letter’ sitting on their hotel chair, peek inside your young children’s bags at the end of the day to see if they have received yet another party invitation.

In a strange form of reunion, in this hour on Radio 2, we have Ed Miliband and Napalm Death's Barney Greenway. Only today they're talking about nuclear power and Birmingham, respectively, and in turn. Bit different to last time.

A short but quite extraordinary exchange. Chris Mason: ā€œdo you still think that Mr Zelensky is a dictator?ā€ Donald Trump: ā€œdid I say that? I can’t beleive I said that. Next questionā€

It was well-known as Aberdeen before rebranding to Abrdn but is now returning to Aberdeen. The bosses complained of 'corporate bullying' after people ridiculed the lack of vowels. Guess the bullies won. fnlondon.com/articles/abrdn…

Right who's in charge of the PR for mice, please? Because they're having a quite incredible week and it's only Tuesday. (At this rate I guess the whole PR outfit is run by the mice themselves).

Nerd fact of the day: the ship and the tanker in the North Sea sea technically 'allided'. It's simpler to say it was a collision but some seafarers would say 'allision'. It's a nautical term to indicate a moving ship striking a stationary object - such as another ship.

We took the decision today to voice up and read out, on Radio 2, every word of John Hunt's victim impact statement. At ten minutes precisely it must be the longest monologue we've ever broadcast. We did so with good reason - give it a read if you haven't: bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Today we did "have you experienced hostility as a Tesla driver?". Extraordinarily, a listener got in touch to say a driver had pulled up behind her Tesla with full beams on, last Friday, and then shot her rear windscreen before driving off down a side road.

Gary Oldman giggling at farts dubbed into his movies, then laughing 'til the tears roll down his cheeks, may well be the happiest minute of your day.

A listener asked what all the screens are for in the newsbooth where I read bulletins on BBC Radio 2 BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Radio 5 Live - so here’s a little tour. Hope you find it interesting! #radio #news #tech

I felt a bit emotional taking off my hiking boots for the last time today. They’ve fallen to bits having lasted me TWENTY FOUR years! (Can anyone beat that?!). We’ve had so many adventures together. Here’s the earliest and most recent pictures I can find of me wearing them.

We're looking for people with great 'I missed a really important call!' stories for the radio this lunchtime. The Heathrow boss missed the fact that his airport was shut down due to a fire because his phone was on silent. DM me if you've got one!
