Freeman notes that decision making is much more important than the outcome of a play in camp. There are so many aspects that go into an outcome of a play. Did he make the right decision? Did he get everybody on the same page?

Freeman: The quarterback is a position where you probably don’t rotate. Those other positions? Who cares? Someone goes out 1st but there are going to be a lot of guys playing (LB safety). You’re probably not going to rotate QB. You’re probably not going to rotate right guard.

Freeman on QB Decision: At the end of the day, it will be my decision. But I will take into account, like I do all my decisions, the coaches' opinions. We'll then tell the players and move forward

Freeman asked about who might've taken a big leap that fans don't often ask about: Notes the three backup corners (freshmen) and transfer Ty Washington

Denbrock on the notion of (not) rotating QBs: We want some continuity. There are strengths and weaknesses of both players and we'll design a plan around them

Tim O'Malley (@timomalleynd) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Denbrock: I hope everybody knows, and I know you do, that no matter who we name the quarterback, it’s no easy task going down to Miami and playing them in the season opener. No matter who it is, there will be a learning curve involved

Denbrock said what pleased him most about the offense in camp is how much he likes their depth. "I think we're deeper than we've been at a number of different positions."

Tim O'Malley (@timomalleynd) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Denbrock: "I think it's important that whoever wins the job (QB) we play to the strengths of who they are. There are subtle differences: highlight the strengths and mitigate the weaknesses as much as you can."

Re: Notre Dame quarterback scrimmage rep distribution Sunday... Reporter: Who ran with the ones today? (Kenny Minchey or CJ Carr?) Mike Denbrock: Yes. "It was all hands on deck."

Tim O'Malley (@timomalleynd) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Denbrock: Both QBs repped with the 1s today, as planned, well prior to August Camp. It was an offense vs. defense scrimmage, after all.

Tim O'Malley (@timomalleynd) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Denbrock: "Nolan James has come in and put himself in position to get on the football field. He's in a loaded room but he's a good football player himself." Calls him tough as nails and adept at catching the football

Notes Elijah Burress is frustrating because he has elite traits but "I can't get him to master the playbook enough yet to get him in there." Adds he's going to be a really good player for them

Chris Ash on the challenge of rotating safety: "The challenge is it's a position of guys that have to be central communicators. There's a lot of talent, but they have to recognize quickly and communicate loudly. It's probably the most improved room since the start of the spring.

Tim O'Malley (@timomalleynd) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Ash notes that Johnson and Talich are playing faster and communicating better. (He had already answered regarding Stroman)

Tim O'Malley (@timomalleynd) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Ash asked about past stops: The only place that would be comparable would be when I went to Ohio State in 2014. "People can say a lot of things about me, but I'm not dumb. If I was going to take this job it was because we were going to have some pretty good players. And we do."

Tim O'Malley (@timomalleynd) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Chris Ash notes that Jason Onye was open with him upon arrival regarding what the latter went through last season. Notes on the field "he's violent. Getting great knock back with his hands." Says it's been "an impressive transformation" since Ash first coached him in the spring

Tim O'Malley (@timomalleynd) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Chris Ash on the heat wave ND practiced in this August: "I'll answer your question with a question. Have you been to South Florida in the summer?"

Tim O'Malley (@timomalleynd) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Chris Ash will be on the field calling the game. Notes he's been in the box as well, but thinks this is best for staff and players. (To be on the sidelines)
