Best advice I ever heard:

You don't have to spell it all out.

Rather than fill pages with endless dialogue, try summarizing chunks and showing the highlights.

Small talk is almost as painful in books as in real life.

I'm one of those weirdos who can rewatch movies a dozen times — I'll remember, but it still feels new.

Same goes for reading, so editing becomes a lot more fun.

Each look back feels like a brand new experience.
