With Halloween approaching, I thought it the perfect time to share a few tales from Yorkshire’s rich store of folklore. The Barguest (or Barquest or indeed Barghest) of Trollers Gill, a narrow gorge near Appletreewick in Wharfedale, is a huge black hound

trying this out for LLM: Use active voice and E-Prime, replace nominalizations with verbs. Be realistic in the application of E-Prime for example "water is h2o" or "the train was late" is allowed so use the verb "to be" when it clarifies meaning.

A Portrait - Nine Elms A random quick portrait of me taken by Andreya. This scene is one of my favourite visual sights to enjoy on the tube network, if you visit Nine Elms station at the right time on a sunny day you'll be rewarded with these spectacular shadows & projections.

Within the Oxenham Arms in the village of South Zeal, Devon is The ‘Roman Pillar' propping up the roof in the restaurant at the rear of the pub. In the next room is an enormous Menhir built into the fabric of the wall too. One pub - two standing stones.

I love Hallowe’en. It’s one of my favorite holidays. Tragically, not many people know the history and lore behind it, which I find utterly fascinating. So today we’re going to talk about Hallowe’en: its roots, customs, traditions. Let’s learn.

an underrated part of the london tube is that each of the 272 stations has a plaque with a unique depiction of a penitential/meditative labyrinth, thus explaining to tube riders that they are about to embark on a spiritual journey of self discovery by getting on the train

Happy All Souls’ Day!✨ Welsh folklore tells us to give our eyes a blessing today: “In almost every parish there was a holy well, and on All Souls’ Day old women generally washed their eyes in the waters so that their eyesight might retain its strength” 📸St Non's #folkloresunday

At London’s Victoria Railway Station, a magnificent survivor from the golden age of rail travel but sadly a faded shadow of its former glory. An old Southern Railway and South Coast Line tiled heritage map embedded into the wall. I hope it’s been restored since I took this photo.

🍣 I visited the factory in Stowmarket, Suffolk which makes all of Tesco’s sushi. And discovered some fascinating facts about UK supermarket sushi. The biggest ingredient is obviously rice. But all of it comes from Australia. High quality & cheap 🇦🇺 🧵1/5
