Yesterday the first #wildlife rehabilitation competence course took place, which was initiated and organised by Clinic for Zoo Animals, Exotic Pets and Wildlife - it was a great success !

Rumination occurs in #primates, too and even during the night as we show in this recent paper doi.org/10.1111/jzo.13…. But what impressed us most is how little these primates sleep. Sleeping appears to be a luxury, especially in the wild!

104 years old tortoise ! Definitely our oldest patient this year - according to the (current) owner it is 104 years old. In any case what is always impressive with these very old (+ likely wild caught) animals, is how good the carapax looks like. No signs of pyramiding.

This is a fluoroscopic examination of a parrot. Contrast has been applied and the crop (blue arrow) and stomach (red arrow) are visible. The stomach (proventriculus) is enlarged due to an viral infection (Avian Bornavirus).
