I'm still struggling to be enthusiastic about Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal... or Bang Sue, depending on where you buy the ticket. It's the biggest station in SE Asia, and herein lies the problem - it's too big. It's so far to walk from point to point. There are signs

SRT Grandpa GE 4005. This locomotive went into service in 1964. With their big Cummins engines, Grandpa GEKs are everyone's favourite Thailand loco. Some trivia: These locomotives were also used by the Manila Railroad Company in the 1950s. #Thailand #trains

Next to #Kanchanaburi War Cemetery is the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre. The museum offers visitors an educational and moving experience. Very informative. Find out more about the construction of the Death Railway and the events leading up to it. Lots of interesting artefacts...

A common sight in #Thailand temples. People often ask, why do the skeletons wear sunglasses? I assume to cover the eye sockets.

Georgetown and Malacca are interesting for a few days. KL is fun. Cameron Highlands is nice for walking. Genting Highlands has a casino and theme park. Something for everyone really... and the buses don't fall over all the time. #Malaysia

There are two war cemeteries in Kanchanaburi. This is the main cemetery for POWs who died during the construction of the Death Railway. The other is the Chungkai War Cemetery. Kanchanaburi War Cemetery contains the remains of almost 7,000 British, Dutch and Australian POWs who

How it started.... how it's going. This is the small train that shuttled excited tourists back and forth across the River Kwai Bridge. #Thailand #travel

Great news, I can't wait for it to happen. This was a service I used a lot, especially in my visa running days. The facilities at Butterworth are excellent now.

That’s the wife settled in to the room. We keep a cheap Lazada espresso machine in the truck. Yes, that’s fresh pineapple, plus there’s chocolate cake and more fresh fruit in the fridge.

Taking a break from Thai food. The restaurant is almost empty, only the pitter-patter of rain on the ceiling and waves breaking under the floor. A gentle breeze blows from the sea. The salad isn’t swimming in jizz. Mood… very happy.

The Massaman Curry the cat recommended was extremely tasty. The Sea View restaurant on Lanta Noi is one of my wife’s favorite Lanta restaurants. The food is excellent but not expensive. The owners are very friendly. It’s a bit of a trek but well worth the effort. #Thailand

Lanta Old Town at 7pm last night. Almost deserted. Plenty of eateries open though. Low season Ko Lanta, it’s a great time to visit. #Thailand #travel

Dual action bum gun. Squeeze the trigger - it works as normal. However, squeeze the trigger closer to the top and a 2-metre jet of water will spurt out of that tiny orifice. What could possibly go wrong?
