I’m glad that I got the ball rolling on bringing the National Famine Commemoration to Limerick. I wrote to Dr Pat Daly as far back as 2022. Plenty of meetings, hours of research and gathering letters of support in the meantime. In 2013, I chaired the event when it was in Kilrush

I really enjoyed leading the Limerick Literary Tour this morning as part of Learning Limerick. Thanks to Liam Hogan of #Limerick City Library for the invite (and the photos). Tis a great city.

The original No. 10 O' Connell St. , #Limerick , built by Edward Alexander ca. 1779, collapsed on the 21st Nov 1986, as the upper floors were being renovated. It was demolished the following day, but the carved stone doorcase found a new home as a window on the Bishops Palace

Great to see a sold sign on the former Irwins Jewellers at 22/23 Patrick St, #Limerick . Vacant & neglected since 2011 ,the mostly original shopfront has been deteriorating over the years from lack of maintenance. One of only a handful of original shopfronts in the city.

On the day of her funeral many have been reflecting on Kathleen Leddin’s civic spirit & huge contribution to Limerick life, myself included. This pic by Dr Paul O'Brien of the 9 women ever to wear the chain of #LimerickCity in over 800 years makes me very honoured to be among them.

Can we have a Catherine Hayes statue or mural in #Limerick? The Opera Square project is named for her, yet the city has never honoured her with a permanent monument. 2026 will mark 165 years since her death.
