Amazing new results for #LOFAR, an international team of astronomers has published the most detailed images yet seen of galaxies beyond our own. A special issue of A&A journal has come out today dedicated to 11 papers describing the results. bit.ly/2W0QjbH
We published more beautiful MeerKAT results today. arxiv.org/abs/2111.06940 showing that relics are filled with network of filaments w different spectral & polarisation properties led by Francesco Dega with HirokiAkamatsu Shane O'Sullivan Paola Domínguez et al. SARAO - South African Radio Astronomy Observatory
Check out this beautiful work led by Marisa Brienza! A combination of radio and X-ray observations of NGC 507 revealed the interaction between gas sloshing and remnant plasma
An international team of astronomers led by Francesco Dega made the most detailed images of the largest cosmic shock waves ever observed. The observations are based on data from the MeerKAT telescope in South Africa UHH - MIN-Fakultät Francesco Dega Quantum Universe SARAO - South African Radio Astronomy Observatory qu.uni-hamburg.de/activities/new…
Big day in the Low Frequency Array world: Data Release 2 out today. arxiv.org/abs/2202.11733 and a paper on clusters in this data led by Andrea Botteon arxiv.org/abs/2202.11720
Check out the detailed analysis of the merging cluster Abell 1550 led by Thomas Pasini+ This cluster is rich of diffuse sources in radio: a halo, a relic, and revived plasma..it is a nice environment to study re-accelration processes in the ICM! arxiv.org/abs/2205.12281
#paperday An ultra-steep halo, a relic, a phoenix and gentle re-acceleration in A1550: just a "small" preview of what LOFAR LBA+HBA can do. Much more to be coming soon ;) With @[email protected] Henrik Edler Andrea Botteon Fabio Gastaldello Max Gaspari Francesco Dega and many more ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2022arXiv2…
Check out this beautiful thread by franco_vazza on our latest paper (out today!) How does the injection of electrons by radio galaxy jets promote (future) radio emission?
Out today: Ultra-low frequency Low Frequency Array spectral indices of cluster radio halos led by Thomas Pasini w Rossella Cassano Andrea Botteon Henrik Edler et al. Main result: more massive clusters host flatter-spectrum halos arxiv.org/abs/2406.12005
