I picked up a copy of Tim Marshall's new edition of Prisoners of Geography at Paddington during my layover today. I am excited to read it while crossing the Atlantic this afternoon in preparation for my Interintellect 🧭 salon with Tim on June 10th. interintellect.com/salons/prisone…

I think that if you do this exercise for almost any humanities or social sciences major you end up with requiring at least a B1 level of understanding of at least one foreign language. For the social sciences everyone has to, additionally, get up to calc 3 or linear algebra.

I have been working on giving my personal website an overhaul over the past month, and I am very happy the way it turned out. Outside of the leaflet map at the top, it is all framework-free html and css.

History started in the 1950s and the hundred years of US history where people rented a room in a boarding/rooming house or at the YMCA never happened.

Splitting the US is one of those ideas that obviously ends in mass deaths due to dehydration once you understand how the Colorado River compact works

my favorite type of parent is the ones who are like “screen time? yeah unlimited screen time … on our own server + the Linux machine, and they can just access anki, PowerPoint, and anything else they can figure out how to access by the CLI.”
