I really struggled to make the transition to blue sky and start again, I just don't feel like it's worth the effort. I found the loss of community here really sad, but have found it hard to leave even though my feed is a unpleasant experience. Weird.

This. Many of the issues faced by myself, my friends, and my colleagues is not because of 'science'. It's because of the systemic issues within academia: job insecurity, low wages, lack of jobs, rampant bullying, and toxic work environments.
