False narratives about a violent crime wave have been used to justify harmful, regressive policies in KY, such as HB 5. Research shows HB 5 won’t make our communities safer but will cost over $1 billion in the next decade by lengthening sentences and criminalizing poverty.

Awful ruling by an awful court. 5th Circuit is the most extreme federal appellate court in the nation. Not coincidentally, it presides over highest % of residents of color of any circuit. It was already incredibly hostile to voting rights before Trump appointed six of its judges.

The Supreme Court has upheld Tennessee’s ban on gender-affirming care for trans youth in U.S. v. Skrmetti. Let’s be clear: gender-affirming care is care. Trans youth deserve safety, support, and the freedom to grow into who they are on their own terms.
