This is probably an old coal drop cover. There used to be hundreds of these so that the coal man could deliver coal directly into your cellar from the street. This one is in Brick Lane, London, once the home of the renowned silk weavers.

On Tuesday we have a real treat for you! Aaron Catlow (virtuoso fiddle player) and Brooks Williams @BrooksRedGuitar (top rank guitarist) are giving us an evening of folk, Americana, roots. The music and song are off- the-scale brilliant - do not miss this!!!

On Tuesday -Open Night at The Hoy with a big difference. As well as floor spots we have the spectacular rising star of folk, Maddie Morris, to give us a 50 minute set. This is a chance to see which cannot be missed! (Still at Open Night prices -£2 members;£4 non- members.

I have been wanting to see and hear Maddie for ages. She has made a real name for herself. I was just looking at reports of the gig she just did with O’Hooley and Tidow - sounds spectacular! I can’t wait!
