4 years ago today, Dr. Glaucomflecken died, and I helped resuscitate him. The worst experience of my life, but the best outcome. To add insult to injury, it just so happened to be his dad’s birthday. Happy (re-)birthday to you both. ❤️

Lots of talk about cholecystectomy, suggesting that anyone could be trained to do it, which I disagree with. I have many Barbosa-isms, and among them is that one of the main things separating me from a junior trainee is simply that I know exactly how hard I can pull on tissues.

As an aside, the importance of learning tissue handling in general is one of the main reasons why it is still worth it to participate in operations as a trainee even if they don’t directly relate to what your future clinical practice area will be.
