So let me get this straight- Teagasc think the fact that agriculture is the biggest pressure on water quality should be a source of pride for farmers?

Dublin, on a Friday night, the city is alive with the masses of staff and students having after work drinks at the end of another week, revelling in the joy of life...

But f*ck you if you want to get a bus after 11pm!

Looser.

Sea Pea (Lathyrus japonicus) is rare in Ireland, considered 'Vulnerable' to extinction & protected under the Flora Protection Order. A population from West Cork is safely banked in the National Seed Bank at DBNherbarium NBG Ireland & germinating nicely for me this wk!

Who knew seed banks were so much drama - a wild ride from the Siege of Leningrad to Ancient Mesopotamia, the Siberian permafrost & Svalbard Archipelago, we even met Seamus Heaney & defeated Nazis along the way, bfor landing at a -20C freezer in Glasnevin & decanting it's contents

New research w/ Ken Bond just out in Irish Naturalist INJ-Journal.
When the non-native range of an invasive plant & insect converged in Ireland, we observed (for the 1st time) the Myriophyllum genus being used as a host by the invasive pest E. postvittana.

Yet another important piece of Cork City's public realm - 150m of waterfront - disposed of in the interest of private development. One response is not an effective public consultation by Cork City Council.
Its a case of death by a thousand cuts for Cork. irishexaminer.com/news/munster/a…
