If you are ever unsure about what to do in a situation, you can always ask: How can I become as present as possible, with kindness to myself and others, in this moment? What is available to me right now?

One of the bravest things you can do is let yourself feel the hard emotions so that you can feel the good again. #MondayMotivation #trauma #recovery

You didn’t become cold. You became safe. A thread on trauma, nervous system shutdown, and how we lose access to warmth—not because we’re broken, but because we adapted to survive.

Trauma doesn't only make us believe "I am helpless," it rewires our minds to *know* As well as you know that you need to breathe, you know that you are helpless. To the depths of your very being, it is simply known. Helpless, worthless, unloveable. It is known.

Healing is not the opposite of suffering. It’s the integration of it. It’s saying: “Yes, this happened. Yes, it hurt. And still—I am here. Breathing. Loving. Becoming.”

Results are in: Majority of both women and men would prefer to be stuck in the woods with a bear rather than a man. But if the choice is bear vs woman, woman wins. Thoughts?

Sometimes the worst feeling is when you've reached your emotional limit and the only way to cope is by shutting down, away from everyone and everything, until you feel you again. I’m sorry to anyone that understands

Recovering--doing things you once believed were impossible--it's liberating, empowering, incomparable. No words can truly do this feeling justice.

There's more than just the positive though. Accompanying the empowerment is also a deep grief for the time lost to helplessness and despair, and for all that was lost as a result. Self-blame for not having healed faster, taken charge sooner. And fear/doubt that recovery wont last

Sometimes stress isn't a bad thing. Instead of freaking out that we are stressed, it can help to acknowledge its presence and then reframe our understanding of it. For one, it can be viewed as a resource that optimizes our performance. How have you reframed stress as helpful?

So do you think it would help to spend our mental energy on imagining/remembering positive events in as much detail as possible? while also recognizing negatives, taking a step back, and reframing/refocusing?
