#AstrocyteCafe first social gathering in Berlin was amazing. THANKS TO EVERYONE who came and who supported AstrocyteCafe during this past year.

We don’t want to FORCE you, but our very own Ludovica Guetta is presenting her poster on how mechanical forces control astrocyte reactivity, shape and function ⚡️⚙️⭐️ and you really don’t want to miss it! Her poster is TODAY, T04-001B at #euroglia #glia2023 see you there!

Day 2 of #glia2023 didn’t disappoint! Started off with some great insights on the astrocyte connectome with Melissa Cooper, PhD, followed by tripartite synapse updates, and a brilliant closing talk by Shane Liddelow 🍊 on how to dissect astrocyte diversity when they go rogue & reactive 💥⭐️

Thanks to everyone who has come to visit my Kelly O'Toole and Ludovica Guetta’s posters over the last couple days at #glia2023! We’ve had some great interactions, interesting questions and really helpful feedback on our work! Having an amazing time with you all in Berlin 🌟🇪🇺

We're delighted to welcome a new Group Leader to the UK DRI at King's!🎉👏🥳 Dr Andrea Serio (Andrea Serio) aims to tackle motor neuron disease (MND) from a unique angle, applying principals from his background in bioengineering👉buff.ly/3Or9tjr Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience

Last week was a busy one for the Serio Lab! We kick-started the week with a visit from the Italian Ambassador, where lab members Ludovica, Eugenia, Francesca and Andrea helped to showcase some of the exciting work spearheaded by Italian researchers at The Francis Crick Institute 🇮🇹🔬

Our week ended with a bang💥- much like the Death Star - with our away day get together to celebrate new labs (including ours) recently joining the KCL UK Dementia Research Institute! Was great to meet everyone, & I like to think the force was strong with all of us - excited for the future 🚀 #scinotfi

Researchers in Max Gutierrez‘s lab have discovered a new way that specialised immune cells called macrophages fight back against tuberculosis (TB) infection 🦠 This discovery could open up avenues for new drugs to combat TB and other infectious diseases. crick.ac.uk/news-and-repor…

ECR day at the lab’s first Connectome as part of the UK Dementia Research Institute. We’re excited to learn all about the recent research led by our new collaborating labs across the UK 🧠

We had Taylor step in for Cathleen’s talk yesterday at the ECR day at the UK Dementia Research Institute’s #Connectome2023 in Brighton. If you want to learn more about how we can model neurone & astrocyte cell shape-function relationships in both health & disease, come to posters 41, 93 & 135 today! 🧠

King's scientists The Serio Lab have developed a novel pipeline to create cell culture devices. The #SOL3D pipeline, published in PLOS Biology, is cheaper, versatile, highly reproducible and “democratises” the use of #microdevices in research Read more⬇️ buff.ly/3PmbkpH
