Some thoughts on the recent three part series by Utah Public Radio and The Salt Lake Tribune on #GreatSaltLake. They take our 2023 report to task, which is fair games, but there are some major concerns with their conclusions. I'd love your thoughts and criticisms... benabbo.blogspot.com/2024/12/open-l…

Researchers provided an update on Great Salt Lake this morning. The lake remains near its all-time low, and we need to conserve 750k acre feet of conservation each year to fill the lake in 30 years. ksl.com/article/512282…

“All indications demonstrate that delivering more water to the lake is a far more cost-effective solution than managing the impacts of a lake at a perpetually low level...We can invest time and financial resources now or pay a lot more later." Brian Steed on #GreatSaltLake

We may get a spring surge, but for now the water conditions in the West look less than ideal. Arizona and New Mexico are in uncharted territory. We hope and pray for a change in the weather, and we get to work on eliminating water waste. #GrowTheFlow nwcc-apps.sc.egov.usda.gov/imap/#version=…

New study measures how much nutrients limit algal growth on Utah Lake. Experiments from across the lake show that reducing nutrients reduces algal growth. Let's keep cleaning up our wastewater and help the lake recover. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

With more than 1,000 square miles of lakebed exposed, we still can't quantify how much dust is coming off #GreatSaltLake because of inadequate monitoring. This could be fixed this session if the #utleg would fund the rollout of a monitoring network. deseret.com/opinion/2025/0…

For me, the economic impacts come far after the public healthy and ecological consequences of losing the lake, but everything is connected. There are a lot of reasons God commanded us to care for His creation. #RestoreGreatSaltLake sltrib.com/news/2025/05/1…

Strong thunderstorms along the Idaho-Utah border created an outflow with winds of at least 35 mph over @GreatSaltLake. A wall of dust moved off the lake at about 6:30 and covered all of Utah County. Will you help make the lake great again? Grow the Flow. Growtheflowutah.org

When faced with water shortfalls, people often try to reengineer watersheds, including removing trees. New BYU research asked how much does wildfire increase river flow? It turns out...not at all.
