Random discussions with first-graders: Me: "There is an author who writes for grown-ups who makes sure he reads and writes every single day. His name is Stephen King." Kid: "THAT'S MY DAD'S NAME!" Me: "Your dad's name is Stephen King?!?" Kid: "No, it's Stephen."

My favorite word recently: “cerulean.” Gosh, it just rolls off the tongue with the greatest rhythm and texture, both Tolkienesque and Gaiman-like (and a touch of Salinger). I’ve got to put it in a song or something.

It was the best salad. Mixed greens in the deepest hues. Onions sliced to perfection. Chicken not too dry. And the dressing? Magnifico. Truly the best. Salad doesn’t get any better than this.

In Fahrenheit 451, the abolition of reading began with tech companies simplifying books into summaries that you could read in five minutes. Because people no longer engaged with the texts, they forgot how to think. Then came the book-burnings.

The Life of Chuck was superb. I particularly loved the narration in third-person omniscient. I don't know why certain writing practices become taboo, but I adore writers who ignore these opinions and simply go for good storytelling. Stephen King The Life of Chuck #LifeofChuck

Yes, it's "all been done before." Does that mean you shouldn't write it? Great article. mystorydoctor.com/standing-out/?… Mailing List

I went to feed the fish in the pond this morning and discovered THIS! Such simple, beautiful things will never cease to bring me delight.
